We aim to provide you with an insider’s perspective, introducing you to the warm and welcoming locals who are proud to share their heritage.
Our journey begins in Belmonte, a village steeped in history and culture. Here, you’ll discover a fascinating blend of influences, including a significant Jewish heritage. Belmonte is known for its remarkable story of resilience, where a secret Jewish community thrived for centuries.
We’ll explore the Belmonte Castle, a symbol of the village’s medieval past, and visit the Jewish Museum of Belmonte, a testament to the community’s enduring spirit. You’ll walk the cobbled streets and hear the stories of how this village kept its traditions alive through the ages. We’ll also visit the Museum of the Discoveries and the Olive Oil museum, to get a full view of the village’s rich history.
Next, we’ll venture to Monsanto, a village that defies expectations with its unique architecture and stunning natural setting. Here, houses are nestled among giant granite boulders, creating a surreal and captivating landscape.
You’ll explore the narrow streets, climb to the castle ruins, and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. We’ll witness a private performance by local ladies playing the Adufe, a traditional musical instrument with Arab origins.

Idanha-a-Velha is a living museum, where the layers of history are visible in every stone. From Roman ruins to Visigothic churches, this village tells the story of the many cultures that have shaped Portugal.
You’ll walk through the ancient streets, visit the cathedral, and imagine the lives of those who walked here before you. The Roman bridge is a must see, as is the Visigothic basilica.
We’ll learn about the village’s history, dating back to the 1st century BC, and its importance as a strategic location throughout the ages. This is a profound experience within the Portugal Villages.
n Castelo Novo, you’ll step into a perfectly preserved medieval village. With its granite houses, cobblestone pathways, and medieval castle, Castelo Novo offers a glimpse into Portugal’s past.
We’ll explore the village’s fountains and learn about the Order of the Knights Templar, who played a significant role in its history. You’ll be able to see the Serra da Gardunha from the village, a stunning natural landscape.
Caria and Sortelha offer a taste of authentic rural life in Portugal. In Caria, you’ll experience the warmth of the locals and explore its traditional architecture.
Sortelha, one of Portugal’s oldest villages, is encircled by medieval walls and features a perfectly preserved castle. We’ll visit the Casa da Torre and the Casa da Roda, to see some of the local history. These villages will show you how people have lived for hundreds of years in these Portugal Villages.

Any changes made after booking confirmation along the tour will not be refundable, and the resulting costs will be considered extras and paid by the customer.
Our tours are spoken in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.
If you must cancel your trip, penalties may apply based on the total trip price.
Cancellation requests must be made by email.
Before you enter into a contract with us, we reserve the right to change any of the facilities or services described in our brochure or website. We also reserve the right to cancel the booking do to weather and/or other conditions. Any changes are usually very minor and we will advise you at the earliest possible date. If a major change, such as change in departure time, becomes necessary, we will inform you as soon as reasonably possible your tours begins. When a major change or cancellation occurs you will have the choice of accepting the change of arrangements, purchasing another available tour from us, or cancelling your tour. If booking is cancelled we will refund all payments made directly to us in respect of the tour price. We will not refund any personal expenses you may have incurred as a result of your booking such as flight payments for land-only tours, travel insurance, equipment purchases, visas, vaccinations etc.
