Our tour is designed to immerse you in the fascinating history of Jewish quarters in Portugal. You’ll visit significant sites, explore preserved synagogues, and learn about the enduring legacy of Sephardic Jews. We aim to provide a deeply enriching and respectful experience.
We’ll begin our journey in the north, exploring the Jewish quarters in Porto. You’ll visit the Kadoorie Synagogue and learn about the city’s modern Jewish community.
We’ll travel through the Douro Valley, visiting Peso da Régua and Pinhão, where hidden Jewish heritage is intertwined with the region’s wine history.
Then we will explore Aveiro, discovering its hidden Jewish past. Each location reveals unique aspects of Jewish life and history in northern Portugal.
Next, we’ll journey to central Portugal, where we’ll explore the Jewish quarters in Tomar. You’ll visit the Synagogue of Tomar, a remarkable testament to Jewish heritage.
We’ll travel to Coimbra, exploring its old Jewish Quarter near the university. Then we’ll visit Belmonte, a village known for its secret Jewish community that preserved its traditions for centuries.
We will also explore Trancoso, a city with a significant jewish history. These locations offer a deep dive into the historical and cultural richness of Jewish life in central Portugal.
Our journey continues to to the coastal towns of Óbidos and Nazaré, where we’ll discover hidden stories of Jewish communities that once lived here. You’ll learn about their daily lives, their contributions to the local culture, and the challenges they faced.
We’ll then venture to Lisbon, where we’ll explore the historical Jewish quarters and learn about the city’s Jewish heritage.
We’ll explore the historical streets and visit significant landmarks. These coastal locations offer a unique perspective on the spread of Jewish communities throughout Portugal.
Throughout our tour, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with the rich Sephardic heritage and culture. We’ll visit museums and cultural centers, to see the local history.
We’ll also meet knowledgeable guides who will share their insights and perspectives. We’ll taste traditional Sephardic cuisine and learn about the customs and traditions that have been passed down through generations.

Any changes made after booking confirmation along the tour will not be refundable, and the resulting costs will be considered extras and paid by the customer.
Our tours are spoken in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.
If you must cancel your trip, penalties may apply based on the total trip price.
Cancellation requests must be made by email.
Before you enter into a contract with us, we reserve the right to change any of the facilities or services described in our brochure or website. We also reserve the right to cancel the booking do to weather and/or other conditions. Any changes are usually very minor and we will advise you at the earliest possible date. If a major change, such as change in departure time, becomes necessary, we will inform you as soon as reasonably possible your tours begins. When a major change or cancellation occurs you will have the choice of accepting the change of arrangements, purchasing another available tour from us, or cancelling your tour. If booking is cancelled we will refund all payments made directly to us in respect of the tour price. We will not refund any personal expenses you may have incurred as a result of your booking such as flight payments for land-only tours, travel insurance, equipment purchases, visas, vaccinations etc.
